THE TRUTH ABOUT DERMAPLANING

THE TRUTH ABOUT DERMAPLANING

Dermaplaning is without doubt the hottest facial procedure to hit the skin care world. The purpose is to leave your skin with a smooth appearance and a radiant glow. Along with the removal of fine hairs, it results in healthier skin that feels silkier and smoother. The procedure is painless and involves using a technique in particular directions with a scalpel to remove the dead layer of skin with the blade. While it sounds scary, the process is totally safe in the hands of someone who understands the skin .... I promise!

To clear up points that I hear every day:

1. It will NOT make your hair grow back thicker or darker.

One of the most common misconceptions about dermaplaning is that it will make the hair on your face grow back darker and thicker. This is a myth! It will not change the texture or number of hair follicles you have. It's biologically impossible for these changes. Everything will return completely identical. I guarantee that. Out of the 100's of dermaplanes I have done, I have yet to see evidence that this is possible. Its also not a 'once you start you can't stop treatment. Its personal choice to :
1. have it routinely as your skin maintenance
2. as a one-off to experience it or
3. as a treat on the special occasions like birthdays/weddings/holidays etc. Everyone is different. (I am def a no.1)

2. It helps with congested skin

Yes........'Hyperkeratosis' is a buildup of the top layer of your skin, which causes dull complexion and congestion . Dermaplaning reduces the thickness of this layer which helps correct these conditions. Plus, removing this layer of dead skin makes it easier for topical products ( your skin type skincare product's) to penetrate your skin so much more. So results in much healthier skin.

3. It reduces the visible signs of aging.

Yes...A decrease in matrix proteins like collagen and elastin are to blame for visible signs of aging and dermaplaning helps promote the production of these proteins. So much more fresher/younger/tighter skin.

4. It immediately evens skin tone.

Yes....Not only does dermaplaning even out the texture of your skin, it helps make the colour appear more even too.

5. It gets rid of baby hairs.

Yes...What's better than getting smooth, glowing skin? Getting smooth, glowing, hairless skin. Dermaplaning also gets rid of the vellus hairs (affectionately known as "baby hairs" or "peach fuzz") on the surface of your face in the process of removing dead skin cells. This is one of my favorite benefits of dermaplaning. Afterwards, your makeup will go on more smoothly with a slight dewy appearance rather than dry and cakey.

6. It doesn’t hurt and there is no downtime!

Waxing, plucking, and threading has made it seem that in order for hair removal to be effective, it has to hurt. That is not the case with dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is entirely painless (I have clients who fall asleep during treatment ) but just as effective when it comes to getting rid of facial hair.

7. Will skin have lines/scrapes/marks after Dermaplaning.

NO......How the blade is held and handled on the skin (pressure/speed/technique) has a massive impact on the Results. Controlled, Even, Feathering strokes on skin that been been properly prepared for treatment ...... trust me, this is my No.1 priority at all time. Also products used after dermaplane are just as important!

8. Will I get breakouts after Dermaplaning.

No..... not if you follow a good and 'correct' home routine ( if you have been in with me you will know what to avoid). I always say to everyone who has Dermaplaning 'please cleanse your skin properly day and night with correct cleanser'. It's why I send everyone home with an aftercare. First of all its to keep the skin calm, clean and hydrated following treatment but also to add in salicylic acid (to clients that need it) who may be prone to a breakout. But clients who follow a good home regime on the correct products will not suffer this.

9. What's the difference between dermaplaning and just home shaving?

Home shaving just removes hair and skims across top of skin, trust me you are not Dermaplaning your legs every time you shave them. Home use dermaplane blade is a safety blade with teeth that will just remove fuzz and minimal dead skin. Dermaplaning removes up to 5 layers of dead skin and fuzz!!!!!!!

I hope this enlightens you a bit more to the life of dermaplaned skin. I could keep going lol
...............once I start I do not know when to stop ...
It's like a dermaplane.....once you start your skin on a good dermaplane mixed with the correct home routine you will not want to stop. If there is anything I have not answered just drop me a PM.
