Which is best or are they just the same

....something I am asked all the time.

Professional Dermaplaning is to exfoliate your epidermis and remove all facial hair and at home Dermaplaning is to shave a certain amount of facial hair off and NO exfoliation.

Receiving a dermaplaning treatment from a professional will be much more effective than shaving at home. Professional dermaplaning removes dirt and oil buildup which often occurs if you have excess hair on your face.
More importantly, and the main reason in my opinion for a professional Dermaplaning, is that it provides an intensive exfoliation, which in turn leads to a smoother, brighter and healthier complexion. Here are all the amazing ways a professional dermaplaning helps your face:

Softens rough skin, leaving your face looking and feeling smooth
Brightens your skin tone
Improves superficial hyperpigmentation
Helps soften the appearance of mild scars
Softens the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
Enables a substantial increase in absorption rate from your products which in turn improves the condition of the skin with your products getting to work so much harder.

Using the 'at home' Dermaplane razors is like a face shave ( removing a certain amount of facial hair ). However, the blade is not designed for deep exfoliation ( it is a safety blade as it can be sold to non - professionals ) compared to that of a professional scalpel, which allows for all the above benefits listed. Unfortunately there are no other benefits I can list for the 'at - home' razors. Also please be mindful of razor burns and ingrown hairs using these.

Also for me personally I beleive after every dermaplane a peel is essential . I would never do one without it. It will vary from an enzyme to salicylic acid etc...depending on what the skin needs. This will eliminate out a risk of breakouts after a Dermaplane. Then the right amount of oil and water is added back into the skin (skin type pending) through topical products/masks. These are all key elements that a professional dermaplane involves which makes for beautiful skin not just hairless skin.
It is your face after all and I have seen some sad skins. Be kind to it please. Your skin is not just for Christmas, it's for life.
